Radon Testing

Nothing is more important than keeping your family safe and healthy – and that starts from inside your home. Radon is an odorless, invisible and dangerous gas that can seep into your home through the foundation. The presence of radon is caused by a breakdown of the granite in the earth beneath your home. Heartland Inspections performs comprehensive radon testing that can be added onto a standard home inspection or completed stand-alone. Our technicians are certified and in compliance with Minnesota’s Radon Measurement Law, and will help ensure the safety and security of your home.

Sewer Scope

Many homeowners in the Maple Grove MN area may not know that they are responsible for line repairs from their house to the street. Heartland Inspections recommends adding a sewer scope with to your home inspection. Sewer scopes provide a thorough video inspection of your home’s drain line to inspect and see if there might be broken or collapsed pipes, offset or sagged sections, or tree roots blockage. It is highly recommended that any home built prior to the 1980s gets a sewer scope, but even new homes can have these kinds of issues, and should be inspected to avoid costly repairs and sewage back up into your home!

Our inspections last approximately three hours. Each house is different and, depending on size, condition and on-site discussion, it can take more or less time.

Plan to arrive at the start of the last hour of the inspection for your Review. That will allow ample time, approximately 30 to 45 min, to discuss the inspector’s findings and get your questions answered. If you come earlier than that there’s a good chance the inspector won’t be ready to talk with you yet. They collect and organize lots of information to prepare for your Review.

Please limit attendees to decision-makers only. For example, you and your agent. If you wish to include immediate family members such as children or parents, please keep the group as small as possible to make the most out of your time with the inspector. We are guests in the home and not able to accommodate large groups. If you want a contractor or others (such as friends or extended family) to see the property, you will need to set up a separate time through your agent. Many folks schedule it immediately after the inspection to make it a seamless process.

No, the seller is not required to fix any problems identified. The purpose of the inspection is simply to inform you of the condition of the property, with the primary emphasis on major systems. If problems are found, you may decide to use this information to negotiate with the seller. In most cases, a mutual decision regarding problems can be reached between the buyer and seller.

Yes. When you choose to sell your home, one of the largest concerns will be “How do I sell my home faster and for more money?” Having a pre-listing home inspection will show you just how to do this! No. Your inspection report will simply provide a list of all current conditions that exist with the property. The purpose of the inspection is to provide the facts of the home and to indicate what may need to be repaired or replaced, not issue a “pass” or “fail”. Every customer’s needs and criteria are different.

Chris completed my home inspection, and it was the best decision ever. He’s very thorough, and friendly. He took time to go over the report with me extensively, and highlighted those that are safety issues and those that are mere cosmetic. Don’t ever close on a home without any inspection; it could cost you. I would recommend this company over and over again, and thanks again Chris!!!

Nick gave me a detailed walk through of everything he found during his inspection. A complete report was emailed to me shortly after the inspection with pictures and details about everything. He answered all my questions and I left feeling confident that we knew what needed repair in our new home. Would recommend to others!

Dan did a very good job inspecting a house for me. He pointed out a lot of things that I hadn’t noticed during the walkthrough and was super thorough and helpful. The staff in the office (particularly Zoe), were super helpful throughout the whole process as well. I will definitely use Heartland again if I need a house inspection.
